Praia de Broña, or Broña beach, is just a few metres away from our Cabanas de Broña property. It’s a beautiful white sand beach with calm, relatively shallow water perfect for families or a romantic beach getaway. You’ll find plenty of ways to fill your time, including well-marked beach paths, picnic areas, and of course just enjoying the sun and sand during the summer. Our property is right by the beach, affording you easy access and lovely views of the water. We have four treehouses at our Cabanas de Broña property, each with its own charms, but today we’d like to highlight one: Cabana de Vitareira.
Cabana de Vitareira takes its name from one of the three sections of Praia de Broña. The beach is divided by rocky outcroppings, creating smaller, more secluded areas in addition to the main beach area. We named this treehouse for the most private of the three sections that is furthest from the main beach. Local elders say that this section of beach used to be known as “praia dos namorados,” or “lovers’ beach,” probably because of its secluded location. To reach it, you can take the long way and follow the beach path around to a relatively manageable access point. For more adventurous travelers, there’s also the option to reach Vitareira beach by crossing the other beach sections, clambering over the rocks between. We don’t recommend this, however, as it can be dangerous. The beach’s relative inaccessibility makes it a little more private and less crowded, and you can see why it might have been a favourite among young lovers. If you stay in Cabana de Vitareira or one of the other treehouses at Broña, we highly recommend packing a picnic lunch and heading out to explore.
The treehouse itself is perched on stilts 6 metres off the ground, but has the added perk of being fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. Take the gently sloping ramp up to the door through a variety of native trees. Inside, you’ll find room for two adults and two children. There are two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and a beautiful deck that lets you enjoy both the trees around the treehouse and views of the sea. Like all our treehouse cabins, we designed Cabana de Vitaeira with light and space in mind. Tall windows fill the rooms with natural light, and thoughtfully designed rooms make the most of the space. Enjoy the natural wood colors and airy feel of staying high off the ground among the trees. The treehouse’s proximity to the beach might make you think that it’s mostly a summer destination, but don’t be fooled. During the winter months there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy and you can end the day in front of a cosy fire in the woodstove or watching the sun go down from the jacuzzi on the deck.
